Alumni Goalie News

MTN would like to acknowledge some of the accomplishments of some of our students. While we believe our philosophies and training style is very strong, it is still up to each goaltender to use the tools they are presented with and for that we need to give some props to some big alumni accomplishments.

GRAEME HARRINGTON

(Student/Instructor)- Dryden Ice Dogs of the SIJHL with several accolades and accomplishments:
-Semi-finalist in the Dudley Hewitt Cup Championship
-2007-2008 SIJHL Champion
-2007-2008 SIJHL Scholastic/Talent Player of the Year
-2007-2008 SIJHL All-star
-2008 RBC Junior Hockey Scholarship Regional $1000 dollar recipient
-finished third for the National RBC Junior Hockey Scholarship, receiving another $500
-featured on Geno Reda's Junior Hockey Magazine radio program
- Fly down to University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux ( watch for more details later).

-2008 Bronze Medal winner for Team Western in the World Under-17 Championships.

-2008 attended Brandon Wheat Kings WHL prospects camp, shutout performance in camp final game, article on him in the Brandon Sun.

March / April 2008 - Alumni Update

GRAEME HARRINGTON

CALGARY, AB– Hockey Canada announced on Friday the 2008 RBC Junior A Scholarship winners. These annual scholarship awards provide financial assistance to players of the Canadian Junior A Hockey League (CJAHL) for post-secondary education at Canadian colleges and universities.

The 2008 RBC Junior A Scholarship recipients, one from each of the CJAHL’s ten leagues, receive $1,000 toward post-secondary education, with one national winner receiving $5,000. The winner of the national RBC Junior A Scholarship was selected from a list of finalists by a national panel of Hockey Canada appointed junior hockey representatives.

The SIJHL's Dryden Ice Dogs goalie Graeme Harrington receives a $1,000 RBC Jr A Scholarship along with the $500 Nickerson Family Award Scholarship.

Graeme’s Team also won their league championship( with Graeme pitching a shutout in the deciding game) and continue their quest for the Royal Bank Cup by advancing to the Dudley Hewiit Cup in New Market on April 23. http://www.newmarkethurricanes.com/dh/


Lane Hildebrand

Lane won the top goaltender award and was first team allstar in the PJHL.

Hockey Canada Skills Challenge

Congratulations to Owen Bachtold of Whitewood for placing third in the province in the SHA’s portion of the Hockey Canada Skills challenge.

Alumni Shooter News

Brayden Schenn

Hockey Canada and the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced on Tuesday the 22 players who will make up Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team at the 2008 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, April 13th to 23rd in Kazan, Russia.

Brayden Schenn, one of four underage (1991) players, played for Team Saskatchewan at the 2007 Canada Games in Whitehorse, and followed that up with a trip to London, ON for the Wolrd Under 17 Hockey Challenge this past January as a member of Team West where he brought home a bronze medal.

January / February 2008 - Alumni Update

To all other goalies keep working hard and remember that the hockey race is a marathon not a sprint. Step by step, slowly but surely will enable hockey to help you in your life endeavors .

 

2007 Alumni Updates

Graham Hildebrand, Beardy’s Blackhawks SMAAAL (MTN 2007) has been selected to Team West and will participate in the world under 17 championship in London, Ontario during the Christmas holidays. This is the second year that MTN has had a goalie selected. Last year Jordan Washburn, Prince Albert Mintos SMAAAL (MTN2006/07) played for Team Saskatchewan in the Canada Winter Games. Jordan is coming of a strong Ice Mania tournament. Jordan had three straight shutouts at Ice Mania. Ice Mania is one of the biggest Midget AAA tournaments in Western Canada.

MTN would also like to congratulate Brayden Schen, Brandon Wheat Kings WHL (shooter MTN 2007) who is also on Team West for the Under 17 Tournament.
