Mind The Net Making An Impact

It was only three years ago that Travis Harrington and Ian Robertson of Mind the Net Goaltending decided to pursue a long-time goal of opening their own goaltending school. Right from the start MTN, has looked to make an impact in two separate capacities; the first was to provide elite goaltending instruction to the young goalies striving to play Midget AA and higher and the other capacity, which has gained MTN Goaltending some recognition, has been offering high-level goaltending instruction to the various minor hockey associations around Saskatchewan.
By offering high-level instruction to minor hockey associations, MTN has been helping young goaltenders, their parents, and coaches to learn more about this often misunderstood position. The minor hockey camps have been increasing in demand each year because of the inclusive atmosphere, both on and off the ice, for all who have a stake in minor hockey. Ian Robertson, Co-Director/Instuctor, of Mind the Net believes strongly that “ the kids may take away 15% percent of what is taught and the parents/coaches may soak in 25% , so between these two groups the goaltender gets more support during the season than they would without the adult support.
Over the three years of existence, MTN has received rave reviews for the minor hockey and elite camps. The largest contribution to the success of the minor hockey camps is the accessibility of Harrington and Robertson throughout the entire process, and the affordability to the minor hockey associations. As one parent expressed this fall,” We have spent a lot more for a lot less!”
The elite program has found tremendous success due to the fact that there are very limited spots available and the goaltenders get an intimate look at all aspects of the game. AS MTN moves forward they are expanding this summer , for a third time, by offering an Atom/Peewee camp, Midget AAA Prep camp 9 Bantams and first year Midget Goalies), and two Prospects Camps 9 Midget AAA and higher). Looking ahead, MTN is always looking at ways to improve goaltenders all across Saskatchewan. For more information about MTN and their services/camps check out www.mtngoaltending.com
